A New Year and Fresh Start

I like to make people happy and I know without a doubt, that freshening up this blog and actually posting on it, will make a few certain people very happy! So, here we go...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Since most of the people who look at this are up to speed on our family, I won't take the time to write about every detail of the last 9 months since I posted. :) I will however give a few updates, since it gives me a great place to start in this new year.

I'll start from youngest to oldest...

Nathan Gordon - 16 months
*the mischievous one - he discovered that he could remove the registers from the floor and that conveniently, little toys fit nicely down the vent!
*little scraper - he may be the smaller twin, but he is TOUGH! He loves to shake his crib after waking up and has a scream that will hurt your ears for hours! He's saying a few words..."Mommy", "Daddy", "Ellie", "ball" and more...
*amazing smile - just look at it! such a little doll
*both boys are teething like crazy and will gnaw on ANYTHING that provides some relief!
*he loves playing chase with everyone and "petting" Gabby our dog

Nolan Stephen - 16 months
*the gentle giant - he's about 5 lbs heavier than Nathan, but he is as sweet as can be. He's much more likely to be found sitting, looking at a book or better yet, snuggling with mommy!
*the big talker - as gentle as he is, he is the one that is "talking" more...says "ball", "more", "Mama", "Dada", "Hannah"...and more!
*he loves to eat, throw balls (this kid has an amazingly strong arm already!) and get into mischief with his brother

Best Buddies...and DOUBLE TROUBLE!

Samuel Brian - 4 yrs. 8 months
*wow, is this boy ACTIVE! He's actually "getting better" as far as controlling himself and making better choices. Don't get me wrong, he's still a hand-full, but we love him just the way he is!
*he loves to scrunch his nose at us and cracks us up no less than 100 times a day!
*he's growing up too...gone are the days of Little People - now we're on to race cars and super heros!
*he is AMAZING with his baby brothers, showering them with hugs and kisses, calling them "buddy" and "sweetheart"
*he's our "physical" guy - Brian and I have joked that we know Sammy loves us by the punches and pokes we get as he walks by. I've said, I'll be worried about my relationship with him, when he stops hitting me. :) (in a loving way, of course!) He's pretty good with his sisters too, as long as they're good to him. :)
*he loves sports (watching with Daddy): playing catch, kicking a soccer ball, tackling with a football, playing with the neighbor boys (last fall he would watch for them out the window and head out as soon as he saw them), doing puzzles with Mommy (I know, this one surprises me too) and anything that is blue/yellow (Go Blue!) or blue/orange (Go Hope!) (not sure how Taylor U. is getting so overlooked, but that's okay for now. :)

Ellie Marie - 6 yrs 4 months
*our little sweetheart - this girl is a dream! She's usually super compliant and loves easy to please.
*she has a major sweet tooth like her Daddy :)
*she's a big fan of Barbies and playing with her little girlfriends in the neighborhood. I don't think she has a mean bone in her body...well, I take that back, she can get mean if her brother and sister push her buttons long enough and then WATCH OUT!
*She's super sweet with her baby brothers and enjoys being Mommy's helper
*she's our girly, girl, refusing to wear jeans...thank goodness leggings are in style!
*she has a really goofy side and I love it when it come out (she and Daddy are playing our Christmas cookie game, attempting to get the cookie in their mouth w/out their hands)
*she's loves learning to read, doing crafts with Mommy and being my "shopping/baking" buddy

Hannah Rose - 9 yrs. 1 month
*our natural born leader - this girl can draw a crowd of little people everywhere she goes and have them following her around playing games or goofy off in about 5 minutes (can't wait to see where that leads her in life!)
*a ferocious reader - we have loved watching her become an avid reader. she'll sometime finish a book in 1 or 2 days.
*STUBBORN - I guess that comes w/ the leader in her. She loves to have an opinion about something and may not budge even when given proof of her error.
*becoming a little lady - she got her ears pierced for her birthday and is loving the "grown-up"feeling she gets wearing earrings
*she is a little mommy - in a good way. :) As much as I try not to make her do too much for the twins, when she is called upon to help, she is a gem. She is fantastic with them and they LOVE her! (Nolan says "Na" when he sees her!) I have been so thankful for her usual willingness to help and watching her really, truly enjoy her baby brothers. (I've often joked with her that she should enjoy them now b/c they might really pester her some day!)
*she's a budding thespian - this girl can act! (and sing) She's so goofy and already show signs of having her daddy's impersonation abilities!
*she loves soccer, gymnastics, drawing and playing outside as much as possible

Mommy (Sarah) -
*nothing too new with me - still an active consultant with Thirty-One and also getting started with a new company called Rodan + Fields (let me know if you need a purse/tote or fantastic skin care!)
*participating in Women's Bible Study at church this year (Christ the King - Batavia, IL) and really enjoying it when I can actually make it! (missed 3-4 weeks due to babies' illness last fall)
*attempting to keep our house in tip-top shape...it's a constant work in progress, but we do what we can
*loving my hubby and kiddos more and more each day...realizing that by God's grace I've been given this amazing family and I'm going to do everything I can to follow His will and love them with all my heart

Daddy (Brian) -
*Daddy Extraordinaire - he is seriously the best! He's always willing to lend a hand, change a diaper, give a bath, read a book, correct an assignment (that's ALWAYS his job), wrestle with up to all 5 children at a time, tuck in bed, run to store for supplies, wipe a tear and shower with love. WE LOVE DADDY!!!

Happy New Year from the Giere Crew!
