Hannah at 7:
*loves gymnastics - in fact, most days you'll find her doing cartwheels around the house NON-STOP.
*loves ballet/dance/performance (see video from previous post) - if she's not doing a cartwheel to get from one room to another, she dancing there...there are literally times when I have to say, "please walk normally, you're going to hurt yourself!"
*loves art - she has become quite a little artist and is enjoying her new easel and paints that she got for her birthday and Christmas. I'm letting her practice a little more before I surprise her with the canvases that we got her as well. I'm sure she'd love to be hired for special projects if anyone is need of some new artwork. She even said she's like to be an artist when she's grows up and that she "wishes there was a museum where she could show her art." For now, our house is that museum and you are all welcome to come view her pieces at any time. :O)
here are a few pieces that now hang on the wall in our toy room
*she's become a sensitive, sweet young girl. Recently I cut my finger on a kitchen tool and as I stood in there with a paper towel over my wound trying to get the bleeding to stop, Hannah got tears in her eyes. I asked, "Are you crying?" to which she responded only with a nod, yes and a motion toward my hand. What a sweetheart! As I got tears in my eyes, (not from the pain, mind you) I quickly said, "Hannah stop crying, you're making me cry!" We both chuckled and had a good hug. She also displayed her caring nature just the other day on Christmas at Mom and Dad's in the city. Sammy was being his crazy self out in the hallway and ran into an open elevator, with no one inside! She was the closest to him and quickly ran in to grab him out before the door closed. I shudder at the thought of him in an empty elevator of a 56 floor building! Who knows how we would have found him...she saved him (and us) from that!
*she's competitive - Hannah loves to compete, but hates to lose (who likes it, right?!). We're working on not being a sore loser and be a gracious winner. Let's just say that Brian and I have had to choose to lose on occasion just to avoid the drama!
*she's inquisitive - I'm sure this comes with the age, but she really does enjoy learning about new things. She'll ask questions about how things work, why people do the things they do and everything in between.
*she's a smarty - I was at Meijer the other day after Christmas and picked up 2 little diaries for the girls. I thought they would like the pink covers and the fact that there was paper for them to write on (they go through notepads like crazy w/ their drawings!). They came with little locks and keys...what a hit! Hannah thought it was the greatest thing ever! She immediately wanted the key on a string so that she could wear it around her neck at all times. She sat on the couch and began writing in her new treasure and then locked it up. We were talking about them that evening and I said, "I don't know if I like you keeping secrets from me." To which she matter-of-factly replied, "Then why did you buy it for me Mom?" She got me...oh Hannah!
*she loves - she is great at showing her love to others and great at telling us too. what a joy!
From this...Dec. 9, 2003
and this...
to this...
(yes, we celebrated on her actual birthday with only 1/4 of a cake, but she didn't mind! Plus, why bake more, when there's perfectly good chocolate cake still to be eaten?!)
We love this precious girl and praise God for giving her to us to watch over.
We can't wait to see where He takes her...
