Giere Life: Has it really been 6 years!?!?

Our firstborn, Hannah Rose was born 6 years ago today! Happy Birthday sweet Hannah! We love this little thing with all our hearts and feel so blessed by her! She is a ball of energy, constantly hopping, skipping, jumping, cartwheeling her way through her day. She loves to tell jokes (even though I don't get them and she won't let me get away with my fake laugh!), dance like a ballerina (and hopes to be a professional one day...along with being a mom), lovingly order her cousin Peter around (these two have a bond none of us can explain...it's so sweet!), and receive lots of positive attention from her little sister and brother (it's not such a pretty sight when she gets the negative stuff from them!)! As she gets older, we are of course, facing new things with her. But, all in all, she is wonderful. God has given us such a gift!

I wanted to share something that came up today, that I just marveled at. I receive emails from Babycenter.com with updates on each child as they reach different ages. The emails describe what a child at that age might be interested in, getting into, or showing signs of. Today, I received one that said, "Your Six Year Old." The opening paragraph about 6 year olds described a book of poetry written by A.A. Milne, the author of the Winnie the Pooh series called, Now We Are Six. The website went on to say that even though the book was written in 1927, it's still a perfect summary description of 6-year-olds today: "fanciful, adventuresome, silly, comforted by familiar things, and boldly curious about the new." I just loved reading that! I had never thought of those words to describe our Hannah, but they totally do!

I decided to take a look back at the past 6 years...seeing these pictures brings the hugest smile to my face and I'll admit, just a touch of sadness. I know everyone says it, but truly time does go by so quickly! Next thing you know, she'll be sixteen! GASP!!! :O)

A few more from her big day today!

Hannah's new pet - Sophia the cat!!! Since we are not so much cat people, I thought the idea of this totally FAKE animal would okay. It's the Fur Real Kitty and as creepy as it may appear, it's kind of cute and Hannah LOVES it!

First thing on Hannah's to-do list, make a bed for Sophia in her room! Perfect! (and yes, there is an "off" switch...the ONLY reason I would buy this thing!)
